ABOUT K9 WALKIES & ME

I'm Kath, and I'm the owner of K9 Walkies.

I decided to start up K9 Walkies as I love animals, my community and see this as a great way to help others cope with a good work-life balance.

Growing up we always owned three dogs, usually 2 beagles and 1 bulldog, a strange combination you might say but somehow it worked. I attended ring craft training on a regular basis and many weekends we would spend attending dog shows where we showed our bulldog.

As my daughter grew up we owned house rabbits, Emma and Geri the spice bunnies, they lived to good ages of 9 and 11 respectively. I learned so much about rabbits in this time, how important it is to keep their gut moving and checking for fly strike. We also kept hamsters, although they are considered pests in Australia this gave me an insight on looking after other types of rodents.

In more recent years I have looked after my friend's and family's dogs at my own home. I'm very passionate about caring for animals and creating a well balanced life for them. Recently, I have been educating myself on dog training and behaviour. I really enjoy playing science based games with your dogs to help them grow confidence and create a calm relaxed dog.

I’m now in a position to extend this love and affection to your pets.

PLEASE NOTE ALL DOGS AND CATS NEED TO BE FULLY VACCINATED FOR ANY SERVICE REQUESTED. THIS IS IN THE INTEREST OF YOUR PET AS WELL AS OTHER CLIENT'S PETS.

Pet first aid and CPR certified.

Fully Insured.

Current police check.

DOG WALKING

Regular one on one Dog Walking

Free introductory visit will include 10 minute dog walk to check compatibility and obedience of your dog.

Your dog will not be let off the lead unless you specifically request this. If you want your dog to run free I will only do this at a location that your dog is used to being loose or I will use a long line. They will need to have a good recall if you request that they are let off lead.

Beach walks are available on flexi lead at small extra cost.

Animals need a change of scenery just like we do. I will change where I walk your dog on a regular basis but still be local to home.

PET SITTING AT YOUR HOME

Puppies, kittens and older dogs or pets will need a visit during the day for social interaction and toilet visits - minimum 30 min.

For more energetic dogs/cats or while you are away;

Daily visit which includes the following;

1 hour total visit
Initial visit free to discuss requirements, pick up keys etc.
30 mins dog walk
Check animal welfare
Feed and water
Playtime
Pick up poop/clean litter tray/hutch
Turn lights on and off
Collect mail
Administer medications
Put bins out and bring back in
Daily text/email
K9 Walkies dog tag, in case of escape

If required a 2nd daily visit for welfare and cuddles

Cats, bunnies or other pets 30 min minimum visit or longer as agreed.

If you require a dog visit while you are away on holiday, this will only suit dogs that are elderly, have access to outside and are used to being on their own for long periods of time.

Call or message to check availability for dogs. Cat care is usually available.

BOARDING AT MY HOME

At our home, your dog will be living and sleeping in our home with us, providing that is what they are used to. I will take every care to make your dog welcome and treat them as you would at your home. If your dog sleeps in the bedroom, no problem, whatever your dog is used to I will endeavour to accommodate their requirements.

You will need to bring their bed, blankets, toys and food. Your dog will not be left unattended at the weekend unless you advise that they are used to being left for a few hours. I only house dogs from the same home maximum 2 dogs per visit. During the week I will have to leave for a few hours during the day for dog walking/pet sitting visits, however my husband works from home 4 days out of 5 so your dog will have plenty of company. This is particularly good for clingy dogs such as French Bulldogs which do not like to be left alone.

You can be assured that your dog/dogs will get undivided attention while they are with us. This service is not advisable for outdoor dogs.

We do get booked up quickly as we only takes dogs from one household at a time. Please call for available dates. If your date is unavailable I am happy to keep you on a cancellation list.
